Shandon Garden

Our garden

This is our garden.  It has a dainty footprint but is the perfect size for a city garden inhabited by Robin and me, our children and our dog, Maggie.  It is an ever-evolving space in which we experiment and dream in equal measure.

Garden accessories

We have a pizza oven which looks like a spaceship and, until recently, we had a greenhouse.  Strictly speaking the greenhouse is still there.  But due to the increasing levels of shade offered by surrounding trees and the frustration of tomatoes stubbornly not ripening in it, it is in the process of being transformed into a garden sauna….

A labour of love

We started to work on the garden (properly working on it) at the start of lockdown in 2020 when Robin put up a new fence and then laid the Scottish whinstone sett circle with polished black pebble detailing, setting out the borders for me to plant.  It is a wonderful place to sit and listen to the neighbourhood sounds and is on the edge of a disused railway line which is leafy and green and packed with wildlife.  We have good privacy, get a good amount of sunshine, and love our little space. The garden lighting adds a really special extra dimension and extends our enjoyment of the space into the darkness of the winter months.  Thank you MGD Electrical.
